KICKOFF:
Friday, September 23 – Mick E. Fynns – 45 Carlton St. – The event starts at the stroke of 8 pm, so you should arrive with your paperwork around 7:30. (PAPERWORK WILL COME IN A FOLLOWING EMAIL). You don’t need to bring your whole team, but everybody is welcome. We will go over the rules, distribute challenge packs, and say GO! 10 tickets (for team members) for the screenings will be included with your challenge pack. Others will be on sale for $10. If you misplace your 10 tickets, NO REPLACEMENTS will be issued.
CHALLENGE PACKS:
Your challenge packs will have a prop, a line of dialogue, a location and a theme. Each of these HAS to be included in your film. Films MUST be between 6-8 minutes. Anything outside that range will not be considered for prizes.
FINISH:
Sunday, September 25 – Mick E. Fynns – 45 Carlton St. – You have 48 Hours to complete your film, so it MUST be submitted before 8pm noon to be eligible for prizes. There will be one official clock, and if you are 10 seconds late, you are still LATE. Anything submitted before midnight will still be accepted, but not eligible for prizes. There will be a submission box at the front door, anything not in that box at the stroke of 8pm doesn’t qualify. NO EXCEPTIONS OR EXCUSES! You can submit your film on data DVD, USB, or portable hard drive. We prefer .MOV files.
SCREENINGS:
The screenings and awards will take place October 4th at the Toronto Underground Cinema, starting at 7pm. Friends and families are welcome for $10 each. Tickets are included for competitors.
TIPS:
-This is a HORROR themed challenge. Your films should include zombies, psychopathic killers, stalkers, lunatics, werewolves, vampires, mad scientists, monsters… Essentially, make it scary. Or based on a scary-type theme.
-You can prepare music (royalty free, or used with permission) before the challenge starts.
-You can scout and arrange locations before the challenge starts.
-You can discuss characters, genres, and ideas before the challenge starts.
-You CAN’T have a script written, nor any stock footage shot.
-You are encouraged to Tweet your progress using the hashtag #tfc48. We’ll be following along!
-**Rendering/Exporting will take longer than you expect. Give yourself as much time as possible. (Computer failures, export issues, almost finishing… will not be accepted as excuses). This derailed several teams in our last challenge.
