The Summer 48 kicked off on July 13th at 8pm with 37 teams competing, and 27 films making it in on time. The top 20 films were then selected by the TFC jury and sent to the judges. The top 20 then screened at the Bloor Cinema on July 22nd, which wrapped up with an announcement of the top 10 films as selected by the judges. Those 10 films were then honored at the Awards Gala on July 27th, which featured guest speaker Michael Sparaga, and host David Christo. A special announcement came from Ouat Media, who is partnering with the Toronto Film Challenge to distribute internationally some 225 films in the TFC library. When the dust settled 10 TFC slates were awarded along with $20,000 in prizes to the winning teams. Congratulations to all the winners and participants. See you in the fall.
